The initial consultation will involve a discussion about your dog’s clinical history and current exercise and management regimes. This will include discussing any past or present medical issues, surgeries, lameness and current medication so the physio can decide the most appropriate treatment for your dog. The physio will then perform a static, dynamic and palpation assessment of your dog to assess their posture, movement and tissues for any abnormalities. A joint range of motion assessment may also be performed if necessary to check for any joint restrictions. A personalised treatment plan will follow the assessment to address any concerns. Treatment may include manual techniques such as massage and stretching, or electrotherapies may be used when appropriate to reduce pain and promote healing.

A follow-up consultation will include a static, dynamic and palpation assessment of your dog before continuing with their personalised treatment plan. This is so the physio can assess any changes from the previous consultation to see whether the treatment plan has been successful or needs editing.

An Initial Consultation is required prior to booking a sport performance consultation. This consultation may involve a quick static and dynamic assessment of your dog. The consultation will be tailored to the desired outcome, whether that is targeting fitness, strength, coordination or endurance. It includes either a two-week or four-week exercise plan that can be performed at home. If desired, a biomechanical assessment can be performed for your dog. This includes using reflective markers on joints to analyse the dog’s movement and detect any gait restrictions. This type of consultation is beneficial for agility, cani-cross and flyball canine athletes at all stages.
