During consultations a range of electrotherapies may be used. Halle Mackman Veterinary Physiotherapy uses:

T E N S / E M S

Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS)

Provides temporary symptomatic pain relief through mild electrical impulses.

Electrical muscle stimulator (EMS)

Helps regain muscle strength and mass by creating an artificial muscle contraction by activating neuromuscular junctions.

Used for acute or chronic pain, osteoarthritis, muscle loss/weakness and sport injuries.

P E M F

Pulsed electromagnetic field therapy (PEMF)

Generates a low-level electromagnetic field to reestablish cellular voltage and optimise repair in the body.

Cellular signals lead to a variety of downstream signalling pathways which help with:

  • Pain relief

  • Fracture repair

  • Inflammation

  • Calming

  • Neurological conditions

Used for osteoarthritis, hip/elbow dysplasia, fractures, IVDD and soft tissue injuries.

L A S E R

Low-level laser therapy

Uses low energy levels to treat damaged tissue by enhancing the body’s natural healing process. It stimulates wound healing, helps with pain relief and provides anti-/pro-inflammatory effects.

Used for acute or chronic pain, osteoarthritis, post-surgery, sporting injuries, inflammation, wounds and soft tissue injuries.

T H E R M O T H E R A P Y

Epiony heat pad

Increases circulation which delivers oxygen and nutrients to the tissues. It provides pain relief by relaxing the muscle and reducing tension.

Used for osteoarthritis, muscle tension, muscle atrophy, poll tension, hip/elbow dysplasia, geriatric patients and chronic injuries.
